"NewPhonics extends and improves all the other areas of the curriculum because, as far as their writing [is concerned], they're able to realize, when they're putting sounds together, what those sounds are that they need to put together...When they might have been forgetting vowels before, even though that's natural at that age, these kids aren't forgetting about the vowels in the middle of words...They're actually hearing it and understanding that you need to put that together. It carries over into their reading in the same manner.
