Teacher Testimonials on the Persistence of Gains in Literacy Beyond Kindergarten
Due to NewPhonics-Kindergarten Instruction

(you may contact these teachers directly by e-mail or phone for further information)

Susan Braverman
Kindergarten Teacher
Council Rock Elementary School, Brighton, NY

"I have been using NewPhonics in my kindergarten classroom for the past two years. I see the results, parents see the results, and now the first-grade teachers see the results. The children are blending sounds to form word families, and they know their short vowel sounds. They are well on their way to becoming readers and spellers. NewPhonics-Kindergarten is making a difference!"

"I have noticed that my kids were ready to do much more in first grade. They were further along, blending and reading word families. In years past, the reading program we were using was too hard for many of the first graders to handle. Now, with NewPhonics, I am finding it relatively easy for my first graders and they are handling it well."

My first graders are doing fantastic! Over half of them are reading well above-average. They had NewPhonics-Kindergarten last year.

Mary Ann Sucheski
Reading Resource Teacher
DeWitt Road Elementary School, Webster, NY

I am in my eighth year of teaching first grade reading resource at DeWitt. Since your program has been used the incoming first graders are at a higher level then the children from previous years. They come in knowing their short vowel sounds, including the troublesome short e!!!!!!!! I usually started short vowels in December with my students. Work on short vowels now begins in September and I can extend what they already learned, rather then be their initial instruction.

Early Childhood Education Coordinator, K–3
Newton Public Schools, Newton, MA

"Our kids are doing great! K and 1 teachers often comment how well the kids are writing! Reading too, of course. Over the years I have seen fewer kids referred to Sp Ed testing in first grade."
